Watch Nik Wallenda Tightrope Across Niagara Falls!

High-wire superstar Nik Wallenda put us all to shame last night by walking across Niagara Falls on a tightrope, becoming the first person to do so successfully in over a century. Wallenda, the scion of the famous circus-performing Flying Wallendas, spent about 26 minutes crossing the 1500 foot expanse on a two-inch wide wire strung a couple hundred feet above Horseshoe Falls, the largest of Niagara Falls’ three rampaging waterfalls. An estimated tens of thousands of people gathered at both sides of the border to watch him, and the entire episode was televised nationally.   (Jun 17, 2012)

Yogurtland Is Heading To New York, With Or Without Hello Kitty

We were pretty jealous of our buddies in L.A. yesterday when we found out that the California-based fro-yo spot Yogurtland had Hello Kitty cups, key chains, tote bags and other merchandise we were dying to get our own hands on this summer. But we might not be deprived of adorable anime chotchkies forever, because it turns out New York is getting its very own Yogurtland this summer!
The chain, which was born in California in 2006, will start dishing out probiotic, low fat frozen treats at first East Coast outpost on 1st Ave and 69th street this July or August. No word yet on whether the New York shop will also have a sweet Hello Kitty deal, but hey, we can dream.   (Jun 17, 2012)

The iPhone 5 We Wish Was Coming Later This Year

Dakota Adney’s concept of the next iPhone 5 proposes the idea of a completely transparent screen, an “iClear Retina display”. The Instagram snapshot moment is especially convincing for framing photos. It’s not real…but I sure wish it was after watching his concept video…   (Jun 17, 2012)

Video: HOT, Shirtless Abercrombie Dudes Gyrate To Global Warming (“Call Me Maybe”)

While doing some research for a 7,000 word rebuttal to Julian Jaynes’s The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind, we stumbled upon this Abercrombie & Fitch video of shirtless dudes dancing with the front door of the flagship NYC store WIDE OPEN. Having recently looked into the disturbing practice of upscale retailers leaving their front doors open with A.C. blasting, we began to get angry at this flagrant violation of city law that is forever shrined in internet eternity. Still, if there’s one thing hotter than planet Earth in 2012 it’s shirtless dudes lip-synching in Times Square. (Jun 16, 2012)

Exhibition: Fireflies on the Water at Whitney Museum

There’s no better way to introduce a little calm and wonder today than to take a look at the work of Yayoi Kusama. The Japanese artist’s latest focus has been colorful, cool, and fascinating work revolving around space and patterns. Kusama has moved from polka dots to fireflies in her latest installation, and the results are mesmerizing.

Fireflies on the Water is a sight that stops breath short. The installation creates the illusion of tiny and infinite orbs of light against total darkness. They’re like stars in the sky, or indeed, fireflies floating across water. The floor seems to disappear beneath them. It is a little bit like walking on the night sky. (Jun , 2012)

Jay Z Brings 40/40 Club To Brooklyn

In a recent press release, Jay Z announced that he was adding his club, 40/40, to the list of venues in the the Barclays Center, the brand new sports and entertainment complex in Brooklyn that will be the home of the Brooklyn Nets come next season.

“There is no better home for another 40/40 Club location than the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn,” stated Jay Z. “The 40/40 Club has revolutionized restaurants in a way I anticipate Barclays Center to transform the arena watching experience.”

There are eight 80″ TVs over the bar, as well as views of the B-Ball court below. The food is supposed to be great, the atmosphere even better.

It must be noted that he is a part owner of the newly moved Brooklyn Nets, so this club opening is not completely random. With his BK kingdom in place, let’s hope his 40/40 club draws a new crowd to the Nets! (Jun 16, 2012)

Man Calls 911 To Complain About Sandwich Order

A man called 911 to complain about his sandwich order when his local deli gave him a hard time over his order.

“I specifically asked for little turkey, and little ham, a lot of cheese and a lot of mayonnaise and they are giving me a hard time, I wonder if you can stop by and just… She’s telling me she won’t make it for me again, and it’s because of that. I just want to solve this the right way…So I’m just wondering if you could come by.”

In the end, it turned out that McLennon had placed a phone order for 14 sandwiches, then complained about how they had been made and refused to pay. The deli owner told NBC that McLennon called and apologized, and told them that he would be coming back in the future for more sandwiches. (Jun 16, 2012)
